IT'S A ............

Aaron, Baby Hein, and I had our latest appointment on April 29th and it went very well.
Whoohoo a new picture of Baby Hein! 12 ounces, 136 beats per minute
The technician immediately turned the screen away from us to not expose the gender. Then she proceeded with all the measurements and great views! It was pretty evident what we were seeing (legs, spine, nose, brain, beating heart, fingers) but it was still nice to have it all confirmed. She strayed away from much of the lower region so we wouldn't see anything lurking! The entire experience was fantastic. As the sonogram was coming to a conclusion, the eagerness and excitement of Aaron and I got the better of us. Knowing that the technician knew the sex of our baby from the start, I cracked. I began to walk out the door and turned back; asked her to write it down on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope. She laughed and did as I requested stating "This envelope will never make it all the way home." Aaron and I left separately because we met straight from work, leaving me to my own thoughts for the ride home. I, of course, cried tears of joy knowing we have a healthy baby: boy or girl, doesn't matter. Content as I pulled into the garage, Aaron come out and said "I want to open it, I must know."

Baby Movement

Well, Aaron finally felt Baby Hein kick last night while we were watching television. I have felt fluttering and small kicks for the last few weeks, but Aaron could never be around at the right time. It was pretty cute watching Aaron put his head to my stomach and announce the three different kicks from the baby! Dear I say it...."A new soccer star is in the works!!" We certainly hope so. We will face our biggest challenge thus far on Wednesday at our second sonogram, attempting to see all we can without discovering the gender. It will certainly be interesting.

Kensley's Bridal Shower

Kensley's shower was on Saturday and was a huge success. The tables were decorated with spring flowers that Kensley was able to take home and plant in her garden (cute idea!). There were a few different games and Brittany and I, of course, won the game about "who knows Kensley the best." Brittany came up this weekend from Houston and will be here again next weekend for the Bachelorette Party! The three of us had a great time again....it was like college!! We went to dinner and lounged around. By the way, if you have never seen the movie Marley and Me, DON'T! If your a dog lover like the three of us, you will be balling by the end of it :( Can't wait for next weekend though.

Par 2

Baby Hein and I went golfing today with Aaron. I am definitely tired. It was in the high 80's after work and it has been at least 4 months since I have swung a club. Poor Aaron, I am out of practice and was traveling more like a tortoise than a hare. It was nice to do something different for a change. Keep your fingers crossed that when we go on our family vacation to North Carolina, my uncles allow me to tag along for a few holes!

Preggo Golfer and Pro Golfer! (Aaron wanted this caption)

I Brokedown

I finally broke down and bought some maternity clothes :( It is somewhat frustrating having to spend way too much money on items that will only last a few months at the most and knowing that your body is gradually getting larger and larger with the possibility of no full return. (Get real people, I'm super cheap....after all, I still have jeans and shoes that were from my high school days because I hate clothes shopping and justifying the cost of them these days is a large pill to swallow.) On the flip side, it is truly an exciting realization that the little peanut inside of you is progressing and growing as it should....you know, it's the real deal....we are having a baby soon. I just touched my 19th week, almost 5 months...WOW!! So, enjoy the new space for roaming Baby Hein.
-Love, Mommy

New Favorite Collection

Aaron and I just the received the start of a new favorite collection!!! Leave it to teachers to value the importance of great books.....YEA!!!!!! Thanks Aunt Mare for the nighttime readers for our little Texan. I am so excited to begin filling the bookshelf (future purchase) in the nursery. I have hundreds of books in my classroom, but after a few years with those emergent readers in first grade, my books are left looking more like raisins than grapes. I, of course, will be soon spending way too much money on books for our "home" read alouds......what am I saying?....you can never spend too much money on books :)

Among one of my personal childhood favorites....Goodnight Moon. Love you Aunt Mare!

Brittany's Bridal Shower

Kensley and I traveled down to Houston this weekend for Brittany's Bridal Shower. We arrived late on Friday night and reminisced for a quiet a while! Her shower was late Saturday morning, "raining cats and dogs" the entire time. It was a wonderful shower! We headed to dinner later that night and again had a blast chatting for hours! Bridesmaids: Me(roommate), Kensley(roommate), Brittany(bride), Sarah(sister), Brooke(childhood friend)

Newest Bannister

We finally received the additional materials to begin the "completion" of our staircase. Keep in mind, this is now a month later than the estimated time of arrival on everything. Customer Service tells me that one of the balusters was damaged in the freight...no biggie, I thought, we ordered an extra one...we pick everything up from Home Depot and its the 8 foot handrail that is dented nearly from end to end. URG! Then, the balusters that they ordered for us are slightly different from the existing ones that we have already purchased. Needless to say, this is our newest set of materials

A return receipt.
So, we are soon hosting a Bannister Material Party! All of those interested in attending, please reply ASAP!

Texas Heartbeat

Aaron, Baby Hein, and I had our most recent appointment on Monday, April 6th. We were able to hear Baby Hein's heartbeat! I had a slight panic attack because the doctor was moving all around and we weren't hearing anything (oh dear). But it was quickly masked by the sound of the th-thump-th-thump of our little Texan. Baby Hein has a normal heart rate of 135! We go for our "mystery" sonogram on April 29th where we will selectively see the little one since Feb 11th. Aaron and I were just discussing how difficult the sonogram may be since we are not finding out the gender....."suck it up" as my brother would say. We are pumped about having a baby; boy or girl will not sway that excitement, so why not wait!?!
