Countdown

Aaron and I run the half marathon in exactly two weeks. Two Weeks! I am becoming a bit nervous about the whole thing because I am such a determined freak that I am scared to not meet my personal goals for this event.

We ran our longest (and last really long) run today. IT WAS SOOOOO HARD! We run along a trail that is pretty challenging because it is fairly hilly and with the wind gusting so strong, it made it a huge struggle. Pushing Brooklyn in the jogger was even worse. Usually Aaron is totally fine with it, but today we actually took turns towards the latter part due to the difficulty involved fighting the wind.

We both were just pushing ourselves along, secretly wanting to stop, but kept going because the other person was going. We make great partners. When we finished, we both admitted the place we had wanted to stop!!

My two goals for this:
1. To run the entire time, no walking.
2. 10 minutes miles (which I think is totally achievable considering we run faster than this during our training, but I don't want to be overly ambitious. After all, I could wake up the morning of the race and have a terrible stomach ache; hopefully not.)
With Aaron beside me, I do feel invincible. I think I am ready!

Another First

Low-grade fever, slightly more fussy....

Brooklyn has cut her first tooth! It is on the bottom and no toy or object escapes her "death grip" hands to the mouth!!
That girl is too much :)

Dinner with Family

We are so blessed to live close to both my parents (Nana and Papa) and Aaron's parents (Gamma and Gampa). Meeting up for dinners and small gatherings is nice and we live close enough to where it is not a long drive and we can almost always make time for it. We also live close enough that it is never a mandatory thing because they see enough of us!!

Here are a few pictures from dinner with Aaron's extended family.

Total Respect

Mondays are always difficult because coming off a weekend (especially Spring Break) to return to work is not exciting. I am drained and I don't see Aaron all day. He goes straight from work to school and this teacher keeps them until 10pm every time :(

Since the weather was so cold this weekend, we did not get a chance to have a "long" run. So I came home pooped, loaded Brooklyn in the jogger and forced myself to run, which was no easy task. Returned and feed B her dinner, cooked dinner for myself, cleaned dishes, played, caught a glimpse of the weather report, played more and by then it was time to feed Brooklyn again and put her down. Laundry in between, explosive diaper change, feed the dog, pack lunches.....oh my!

I DO NOT know how single moms and/or military wives do it!! My hat is off to all other moms. I knew once we had Brooklyn that ours lives wouldn't stop for many years to come. And we want more!?! Can I handle more??

6 Month Report

Brooklyn had her 6 month check-up today and all is well! She weighs 14lb, 11 oz (20th percentile) and is 27 1/4 in long (90th percentile). Our little peanut is growing, growing!

B has now graduated to baby foods. She likes carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, bananas and apple sauce. She is certainly not the most graceful of eaters, but is learning!

She is by far a "Daddy's Girl." Every time daddy is near her or playing with her, she has a smile from ear to ear. She knows her name and will look at you when you say it and is still a hoot!

Rough Night

Brooklyn and I were scheduled to head over to a friend's house (they just bought a new house) tonight around 6:00. Of course, B finally fell asleep around 4:30, supposed to eat her dinner at 5:00. I woke her up around 5:15 and she was definitely NOT happy about it. I calm her down and get her into her high chair and she threw a fit when I was trying to give her rice and applesauce.
Ok, no problem, I will pack dinner and head over to my friends to feed her there. It was obvious she was still a bit sleepy and just not quite ready to work at eating.

I am on my way (not realizing just how far the drive really is because I have never been there before) and somehow I am lost. It just didn't feel right, I wasn't seeing the street I needed, nothing. Oh dear! Brooklyn begins to cry because she is now starving. I am desperate at this point. I know she needs to eat. So, I pull into the parking lot of a childcare center (have no clue where I am). I climb into the back seat and try to feed Brooklyn some of her dinner. She will have none of it. Screaming, crying. Luckily, there was a gentleman who was mowing the field beside this center. I flag him down and ask him if he had access to the center so I could get water for B's bottle. Yes, thank you! I go inside and fill it up, only to spill water all over the floor.....oh brother. I feel awful and apologize profusely. Go back out to the car and begin feeding her the bottle and just breakdown.

Seriously, I know, I am pathetic....but I am lost, embarrassed and upset because Brooklyn is upset. Keep in mind, we left our house at 5:45 and it is now 7:00! I feel vulnerable being in a parking lot, feeding my child in the middle of BFE. Needless to say, I am slightly rushing her to eat. Can't get a good burp from Brooklyn at the end, but buckle her in anyways because we are GOING HOME.

Brooklyn begins screaming again within a few minutes on the road as my friend calls wondering where I am. "Sounds like someone is not very happy." I pull over to get her the paci and she calms down and everything is ok. Minutes later, you guessed it, screaming. I eventually pull into a Hobby Lobby parking lot, pull her out and work the burp out. Here I am walking around a parking lot (again) with B "puffing" due to all her crying and myself crying and apologizing because I have put my daughter through torture.

Bedtime was an hour behind and luckily Brooklyn is a forgiving and loving child, because Mommy made us both have a rough night :(
