MIA Weekend

This weekend the three of us left and went camping (spur of the moment) at Possum Kingdom Lake. We rented a cabin, drove out Friday evening and returned home on Sunday. The cabin was fairly new with one bedroom, large bathroom, living area, kitchen table, all the kitchen amenities, porch with rocking chair, fire grill/pit and a picnic table. It was "non-primitive" camping with a toddler!

The lake was beautiful and the water was crystal clear. Saturday morning, we rented a paddle boat and went out exploring; attempted to fish, but was a little too windy to manage.

Afterwards, we hiked for about 2 hours. We took the stroller, knowing Brooklyn wouldn't last the whole time, but ended up having to carry the stroller and her half the time because the trail got pretty rocky. That definitely pooped all 3 of us out.

B napped the last part and we fished for a little while once we got back. We drove around the lake checking out properties and scenic areas. Then we fished more in the late afternoon before dinner.

Daddy bought Brooklyn her own Barbie fishing pole and it ended up catching a small bass. Unfortunately, while Daddy was baiting another pole to throw out, a different fish stole Brooklyn's pole and drug it out into the lake!!! "Bye Bye Barbie!"

We, of course, cooked out for dinner and made smores. B was totally exhausted by 6:30, so Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the cool evening with drinks and some night fishing. It was a very relaxed weekend away, yet packed with outdoor fun :)
It really was a fabulous weekend with the family!!

My Foundation

Everyone has their "behind the scenes" person; someone who you tell even the insignificant stories to, someone who can pull you back into a rational state when you have been completely frazzled, someone who makes you try harder and think more clearly. Aaron is my firm foundation. He's the one who pushes me in front of the audience and tells them I am solely responsible for the master piece, even though he he did most of the work. The one person I say all things to is my wonderful, supportive, stable foundational husband and best friend.
I feel like such an incompetent writer....I always find myself at a loss of words when writing or telling others about him because his love leaves me speechless....I could never do it justice.
In the last 2 years, our relationship has reached such a positive level that it leaves me anxious and excited to see where it's going still!! God has blessed me with the one and only man that he made for me and I am so thankful for that!

A Different "Roll Over"

We taught Brooklyn how to jump and roll over in a new toddler way!! She is so funny and in this particular video she is so anxious to do her roll that she doesn't even wait for us to tell her to!!

Brooklyn in the Snow: Take 2

Taken from my iPod Touch...again sorry for the size!

Brooklyn in the Snow

Taken from my iPod Touch....sorry so small!

Snow Pictures

There is not much to be said except for "WOW!!!" Texas is experiencing snow again and this winter is one for the books AGAIN!
Even though Brooklyn has a little cold, I couldn't resist taking some snow pictures....I'm a bad Mommy, I know. I bundled her to the max and didn't want to ruin her UGG boots, so I wrapped her feet in plastic bags...HEHE!!

Iced In

Today and yesterday, ice has been on the roads and school has been cancelled. Yesterday, Aaron attempted to go to work and had to turn around, realizing it just wasn't worth the risk as he stared at about 15 cars spun out all over the highway. Today, with all his stubbornness again, went to work and safely made it there after about an hour. Hoping for a safe return later.

It was nice being home as a family!! Unfortunately, B has been rather sickly with a cold....nose running constantly and a slight cough. It was non-stop playtime with Daddy and now, Brooklyn and I are trying to make the most of our "iced-in" day today. Good thing we still have electricity, unlike many others in the area.
I think, however, I would go bonkers if I was stuck inside for several days/majority of the winter.

Brooklyn likes to scribble....

but when it comes to finger painting, she does not like her hands being dirty. (Round 2 and still doesn't like it....oh well!)

(yep, she got it in her mouth....good thing its nontoxic)
