Efficient

Aaron and I are not always on the same page with everything, but home improvement projects are definitely our forte. Working together efficiently to make our home space more efficient....you are talking to the couple!!

We have wanted to reorganize the pantry for a while and today we just demoed it before we could even think about it, to force us to do it. It is unreal how much more storage there is. I don't think the picture does it justice. We are not completely finished because we are going to get long spice/can rack to put on one of the doors and Aaron is going to place a thin slotted section on the slanted part of the ceiling where we can place the foil, cling wrap, parchment paper, etc stuff. Oh yea!

6 Month Old C

Cayleigh girl had her 6 month check-up on Monday. She is doing great! She now weighs 13lb, 4 oz (10th percentile) and is 25.5 inches (45th percentile) with 50th percentile in head circumference. She took her shots much better this time with minimal crying. Unfortunately though, her right eye is still having some issues, so the possibility of surgery is becoming more likely. We will talk more about visiting an Ophthalmologist at 9 months....prayers that is clears up before long because Mommy and especially Daddy, do not want any type of procedure done on her eye.

She is an eating machine! She eats spoonfuls of fruit after her breakfast bottle and spoonfuls of vegetable before her dinner bottle. So far, she likes Mommy's freshly made banana, apple, pear, green beans, peas, sweet potato, carrot, and squash.


She is rolling over lots. She also has began to really babble more often with 'na' and 'da' sounds. She loves to suck on her toes! She is not very ticklish, except when Daddy gets her with his scruff and you get her belly with your chin. C giggles at her sissy B and always listens and smiles when she talks to her. She is a good sleeper, but definitely an earlier riser than Brooklyn, usually 6:30ish. And she is really easy going and will let anyone hold her. Everything goes to the mouth and by the looks of her gums, two bottom teeth will be surfaces pretty soon.

A New de Wolfe

I am a proud aunt again and Nana and Papa have their first grandSON!! Jason and Jen were blessed with Nolan Keith at 12:29 am, May 18th, weighing 6 lbs 14 oz, 21.5 inches long. He looks just like my brother, Jason. (Maybe it's just me, but when I think of a son, I want them to look like their dad because obviously you think their dad is handsome.) So I love it!

We are thrilled everyone is healthy and doing well. Welcome nephew Nolan!

A Little Extra "Special"

Mother's Day gets more special every single year! I am a very blessed grand-daughter, daughter, mother and wife, there is no doubt about that. But I received a little something extra in the card from my parents this year....my dad wrote me a personal note (my mom usually always signs the cards for the both of them).

You are very special. I can see that through your daughters on a regular basis. Love, Dad

That really meant a lot to me. Enough said.

Relationship

There is something about Brooklyn and Cayleigh's bond that just melts my heart. Maybe it's the way B is so helpful and slightly protective of C that makes it so cute, or maybe it is just because I nor Aaron ever had a sister, so we don't understand what a sisterly relationship entails. Nonetheless, I find some moments between them heart stopping! Now that B is getting a bit older, she is beginning to become more considerate of Cayleigh girl and wanting to include her in everything. "This ones for me and this ones for Caywee girl."

She will make sure she has toys to play with in the tub, on her playmat and so forth. Laughing at C, playing pretend things with C, and announcing what C is doing and what kinds of things she wants and doesn't want!! Hehe!

Just tonight, I happen to lay Cayleigh next to Brooklyn while I read B her bedtime story and not only did B try and hold her hand during the book, but afterwards she said "I want to sleep with Baby Caywee, Mommy." I reply: "Well, she is too little right now, but when she gets bigger like Brooklyn, then maybe you can."
After, B says: "Oh ok. She sleeps in her crib now. I can sleep with her when she gets big."

LOVE IT!!! I can't wait to watch this relationship unfold!

Daddy's Half Marathon

Daddy completed another half marathon; no chat partner this time. He was up bright and early to head out. The girls and I dressed in our running shoes to see him midway and at the finish.

It was a sauna this morning for poor Daddy :( Tough run. 

He finished in 2.09.35 minutes!!

Mayfest in Fort Worth

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo by heading into downtown Fort Worth for the annual Mayfest. We met up with my college roommate, Kensley, and her family briefly because we were running late from a continual 'mishap' morning. (We did, however, get to meet Kelli Sanders' new bundle of joy: Audrey Elizabeth!!! Who is the most adorable baby ever!)

By the time we arrived it was a little after 11am and it was already very hot! We walked around and stopped at a few activity centers for Brooklyn. She played on the playground and danced to music. Of course, she had another corn dog and even got to have some ice cream with sprinkles. We picked up a free Oak Tree and some other various goodies, stickers, and knickknacks. Both the girls were complete troopers because it was well into the 90's and the sun was blazin' hot!! We headed home for some cool air and restful naps.

Job Offer

Last week, I received an email from a former principal of mine. She was actually the principal who first hired my very nervous and very young self 6 years ago! I had the privilege of working under her for 3 years. She is now the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning at our GPISD Education Center. Anyhow, she was requesting to meet with me regarding a new position within the district that she felt I was best suited for. While my mind is completely made up about staying at home next year, I decided to meet with her anyway after school last Monday. I was also a bit curious to see what the position was. Plus, options are a good thing....it never hurts to have several!! She went on to tell me about responsibilities and roles of a Dyslexia Specialist. I would be assigned to 4 different campuses, working with a very intricate group of students on a scripted, stepping-stone program. She wanted a reliable, extremely organized teacher with my experience and success in literacy. And I was her first candidate?!? She said she immediately wanted to offer the job to me.....how flattering! I will admit, it sounded tempting. It would be a change in pace for me; an overdue change that I definitely craved last year. Way less paperwork with lesson plans, less pressure, more flexibility with absences that arise from sick babies, etc. Bottom line = same underpayed salary with the same long commute = no thank you! We are going to take a hit, no doubt, when my paycheck is no longer rolling in, but having the opportunity to stay at home with my girls is the exact "job offer" I want right now!
