Outside Maniac

Brooklyn adores being outside and would stay out (no matter the temperature) all day if we allowed her. We had fun at the park this weekend. She is such a big girl and climbs up onto everything, goes down slides by herself, crawls through the winding tunnels and RUNS!!! She ran the trail like Mommy and Daddy did during their training. I told Aaron that she would have a better half marathon time than me come next April. She certainly inherited her parents athletic abilities....you should see her now with a soccer ball too :)

In A Heartbeat

So many things can change in a heartbeat.

You nervously lock lips with the man of your dreams and in a heartbeat, you have fallen in love and know that this is the man you will marry.
You say "I do" and in a heartbeat, your life as an individual has drastically changed to a unique and unbreakable partnership.
You glance at the $5000 balance on your car and in a heartbeat, click "transfer" to watch the account disappear.
You place your signature on a piece of paper and in a heartbeat, you are the owner of your very own home.

Amazing; and only in a heartbeat. Oh, the thump of a heartbeat.

And in a heartbeat, you can hear the new life developing inside of you. Welcome Baby Hein #2. In a heartbeat, we will meet you.

OMG.....Debt Free!!!

Well folks, its official: Aaron and I are completely debt free!!
Obviously, we currently do not have a mortgage payment/home loan. Aaron paid off his student loans back in the fall. The Honda was paid off a little over a year early and we just finished the Explorer, two and a half years early!! Wow! It almost felt surreal seeing the balance at $0. It was tough to see such a massive chunk of money go towards a single thing, but we are both so stoked about being "debt free" for the time being!

Anyhow, we are saving, saving for our large down payment on the new house and we will be gaining that mortgage around November, but our plan is to buckle down tight and highly overpay our payments for at least 2 years to gain some great headway.

Tag: Nick's Amanda Hein, you are such an inspiration!

New Construction, New Adventure

My absence in blogging.....well, what can I say?!? Life has been a bit hectic and out of sorts! Aaron gave me the "green light" on telling others about our new house now. So, yipppeee!!
In the midst of closing on our first home, we had found a lot and a model home that just sang to us like blue jays. We ended up putting a deposit down the following weekend. Needless to say, Aaron drove by our "land" last week to check on how well it was taking all the rain (and everything looked great) and their was a SOLD sign out!! It's now a whole slew of appointments and monitoring and decision-making!

We have signed off on the structural plan of the home. We are converting the study to a fourth bedroom and have added a game room and half bath upstairs.

Yesterday, we had an appointment at the Design Center, where we picked brick color, tile, carpet, paint colors, and so forth. I must say that Aaron and I were taken from the same mold when it comes to our opinions on design. We breezed through everything without a hitch. At one point, the designer said "Am I being 'punked' here?? You guys are way too easy and decisive!" We went a little over our original planned spending, but unfortunately the upgrade spreadsheet that was given to us was mis-marked in some pricing areas :( The tile and carpet options were horrendous, so we needed to bump up an unexpected level with those as well. All in all, we did awesome and are beginning to get excited about our new adventure and life in Keller, TX!

The projected finished date of our nsecond, but NEW HOME is August 22, 2011!! I am certainly not holding my breath on this one, but it's still fun to think about!
