Spring Break, Part 1

We stayed very busy during the girls spring break this year. We had a lot of fun and spent loads of time outside. We played at the park, rode bikes, went places, baked cookies, stayed at Nana and Papa's house, worked in the yard, painted and had a girl night together.

During the weekends, we soaked up time together since we had no soccer games for two weekends in a row. Monday, Aaron had jury duty and was released mid-morning so we could go to the Dallas Arboretum as a family. Beautiful tulips and other flowers everywhere with amazing weather! I will expand on that trip in my next blog entry because I took way too many pictures!

Tuesday, we went to Chuck-E-Cheese's and played lots of games until it became more crowded. They always have such a blast there!

This is his "smile" face right now! Hehe!

Good ole air hockey among competitive middles!

That night, Daddy helped with the execution of "Girls Night" and painted some fingers and toes with me. We put mud masks on, watched shows and ate popcorn and homemade cookies until past bedtimes. The pampering was fun and something different for us to do together!

Blessed to have these sweet and crazy girls in my life!

Wednesday, we met friends at the painting place and chose more ceramic figurines to paint. The girls could do art for hours and hours. It is always fun when we go and we are building quite a collection.

Thursday, we met neighbor friends at the park for lots of outside time. I also found a few selfies on my phone during this week that I thought were hilarious to share.

Friday, the kiddos went and stay at Nana and Papa's house and gave Aaron and I a chance to tackle some odds and ends around the house and clean. He took the day off so we could hang out together and we did nothing but work, poor guy. It was a very productive day and we wouldn't have waned it any other way. We went to his soccer game that night and indulged in sushi for dinner and college basketball upsets at the house.

Saturday, when the girls got back home, we gave away free samples of Sweet E's cookies and sold several dozen as well in our neighborhood. The girls (especially Brooklyn) helped make signs and were very excited about this kick-off. We had some sweet support from a lot of friends and neighbors.

A little variety

That afternoon was working time in the yard. We trimmed bushes, reworked lots of landscaping in the backyard and even tore out our built-in grill area to relocate it. Worm-finding and gecko-playing was had by all.

We had such a wonderful week. It was exhausting but super fun! We are counting the days until summer when tons more outside time will take place.

Hein Family Gathering

Two weekends ago, we got together at Gamma and Gampa's house for lunch and fun times with cousins and new family members. Cousin Charlie was in town visiting from Arizona and the girls were so excited to see him again! They could not stop talking about seeing him! Also, Aaron's oldest brother, Nick, proposed to his girlfriend and we met her and her family as well. They will soon be a blended family with Nick's girls and Cassie's 4 kids. We had a lot of fun doing confetti eggs to celebrate the occasion.

CFA Daddy/Daughter Date Night

Another year of a super cute and fun date night for the girls with Daddy at our local Chick-Fil-A. This year was a superhero theme and so the girls dressed up in their costumes and enjoyed dinner, pictures, horse-drawn carriage ride and laughs with their favorite Hero! They said that they sat by the window for the drive-thru, so they made strong muscle poses at the people in their cars. Ha, only with Daddy!

Expo and Open House

Cayleigh and her best friend, Layla, were chosen to present a picture collage App to parents at the high school for Expo Night for the school district. They did a really good job considering they had to show everything from a shared iPad. A few giggles were exchanged but it was so sweet watching these girls stand courageously in front of parents, teachers and strangers and demonstrate step-by-step how to use the App.

Brooklyn and Cayleigh had Open House at school tonight. We went to Cay's room first and had the pleasure of seeing lots of her writing, math journal, reading response journal and much more. It was wonderful and we are so proud of all her hard work this school year. We also got to see a lot of her art work throughout the halls too.

We headed to Brooklyn's room afterwards and they had a few STEM activities set up for the students and we got to see the car ramp that she created.

We love seeing these girls flourish and grow. Blessed that they call Aaron and myself, Mom and Dad! We are very proud!
