After 2 months of planning and keeping a secret, we managed to pull off the best surprise ever to celebrate Nana's 60th Birthday!
She was totally shocked and I was as giddy as a school girl getting to make it happen! Nana was coming over to our house under the impression that Aaron and I were taking her and my dad out to a really nice restaurant downtown. Little did she know that 30 of her friends and family were waiting to celebrate with her. Her brother, Uncle Gary and family drove up from Houston and my brother, Jason flew in from PA to make the occasion. It was fantastic!!
I planned an Italian-themed party and made mini spinach lasagna rolls, homemade meatballs, Italian sub sandwiches, caprese salad, mozzarella sticks, brownies and tiramisu cupcakes. Colleen Hein made a pepper, olive, cheese and grape spread. Pam Sanders brought all the wine and plates. The food was fabulous and the company was equally as awesome! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and Nana had to confess some of her old antics with "Debbie's Details" cards prompting the curiosity of the attendees!
Nana was showered with wonderful gifts; one of which is the most beautiful and unique handmade quilt by Colleen. It has every one's pictures embroidered on it in a family tree. Many hours of love put into making it and tons of love displayed by all who came! Truly a very special occasion!
