Long Afternoons

Momma officially survived her first week back to school!! Our first grade class schedule has changed this year, leaving the students inside the classroom from 11:50 to 3:15 with no break.....yikes!! By 1:30, everyone in the room has "checked out" for the day. It's going to be a long school year and that's all I will say about this because otherwise my blog entry will probably not fit on my blog; exhibiting "complaint restraint."

Nana de Wolfe also has a new long afternoon because Brooklyn has decided to drop her afternoon nap in the last few days. FUN, PLAY, FUN!! Nana is definitely earning every penny we pay her!

She will have this coming Friday off from work however, because Momma took the day off to spend with her little 1 year old :) We are going to have lunch with Dadda, visit the pediatrician in the afternoon and get the food and house ready for her party the next day. WOW......Brooklyn is almost a toddler.......OH MY!

Growing Garden

Aaron has diligently watered his garden twice a day to keep it thriving in this torturous heat. We have basil, mint, bell peppers, eggplant, tomatoes (only one thus far), chili peppers, avocado, corn and carrot (last 3 in a different area). This has become a strange passion of his now. It's amazing that anything has survived, considering tomorrow it is supposed to be 106 degrees! AHHHHHH!!

Green peppers are doing awesome!!

Water Table Fun

Uncle Jason, Aunt Jen, and cousins Addy and Kate bought Brooklyn a water table for her birthday. It arrived yesterday and we (Momma, really) couldn't wait to use it!! So when the front yard was pretty shaded this evening, I took Brooklyn outside to play. Once she realized what it was all about, she had a blast with the boat and water wheel; she was splashing and dunking!! It was so cute to watch her and she was soaking wet when it was time to go inside :)

"What is this thing?"

Realizing what fun this table is.

Playing with the boats.

"Oh, I can dunk my hands too!"

Splash time!

Sydney's Visit

My sister-in-law, Amanda had a dentist appointment today and asked if I would babysit my niece. "Oh course!!" I was so very excited that she even asked. Two month old Sydney came to hang out with Brooklyn and I for about 3 hours. She had been awake for quite awhile when she arrived, so we played for 20 minutes or so, then she had her bottle and fell fast asleep for the remainder of her stay.

What a sweetie she is!!

Weekend in Houston

This past weekend we had our first road trip as a family to visit my best friend, Brittany, in Houston. Brooklyn was a total trooper and did great on the long drive. The trip began rather hot on Friday afternoon, but we had a wonderful stay and visit once we arrived.

Brooklyn got to spend time with her Auntie B and Polo (who licked her nonstop). Brittany and I got a chance to chat and catch up on things. They have owned their home for a year now and we finally got to see it; absolutely gorgeous!!

It was great to see my best friend again and I certainly miss our college days together. It's too bad we don't live closer to one another now.

Saturday Morning with Dadda

This was our first official school-free Saturday morning together as a family!! It was fantastic. We all slept in until 8:00 :)
I got up a few minutes before Dadda and B to make breakfast. We had banana pancakes and shared lots of laughs. We later did a little shopping and went to Cooper's B-B-Que in Fort Worth with Papa de Wolfe for a late melt-in-your-mouth lunch! Yummy!

Breakfast Time!

Brooklyn is sharing her pancake with Dadda.

HAHA, JUST KIDDING!! She took it back and put it in her mouth instead. Dadda was very sad (It was so funny!!)

Book Lover

I recently cleared off a shelf in the play room to accommodate Brooklyn's books. She likes looking through all her books. I placed a bunch of them on the shelf that were more of her "learning" ones, leaving the bedtime stories on the bookshelf in her room. Well, thanks to Gampa Hein teaching her to throw things on the ground continuously, I had to make the pile a bit smaller (realizing this afterwards) to keep from cleaning up LOTS of books after playtime.

She surveys the collection and says "hi" to Clifford.

She likes to take her books down, open and point to different pictures.
