Last week, a girlfriend (who I played college soccer with) lost her 20 month-old son. It is extremely devastating to lose a loved one, let alone your baby. Cason's viewing was Friday night and funeral was Saturday morning. No words can possibly describe the sadness and pain of this occasion. It was the single worst experience I have had and I wasn't the one who lost their child. I, personally, have struggled coping with the situation and I am ashamed to admit this given I am blessed with Brooklyn.
Please pray for the Stewart-Piepkorn Family.

A Hypnotist, Really??
Aaron and I went to the Improv Comedy Club on Saturday Night and bought tickets over the phone. We didn't actually know who the comic was going to be, but the ads were out for the "caveman" bit. Anyhow, we get there and it turns out we are seeing a hypnotist....oh boy! We kind of were bummed out once we realized this. It turned out to be hilarious!! Out of about 13 volunteers, 7 actually became hypnotized on stage and it was so funny the things he had them doing. At one point, they were seeing him naked, were smelling foul smells, were hicks on a talk show describing their alien encounters, evangelists trying to get "donations" from the audience, etc. It was quite different from any show we had been to and worth it!!

My Husband Rocks!!!
(I am stealing this little post title acronym from another blog that I follow.)
This past Friday-Monday was extremely busy for the three of us. There was a lot planned and since we were hosting Brooklyn's birthday party at the house, I wanted everything to be clean and put-together and so forth. Well, you know me....it had to be "me" quality. And was it ever! Aaron was so helpful and so sweet, I have to spend a minute bragging on him. He basically cleaned the entire house for me. We spent Thursday night prepping the food and he did most of the work: shredding the chicken, cutting all the fruit, and so on. And on Saturday morning, he showed up with dozens and dozens of flowers for his girls! He arranged them all around the house and it really brought everything together. He is just so thoughtful!
Family pictures on Sunday and the busy zoo Monday was no problem for my patient husband. It's no wonder he has girls in the house. God blessed him with the ability to handle us :)

Fort Worth Zoo
On Memorial Day, Dadda, Momma and Brooklyn went to the Fort Worth Zoo. We had a fantastic time!! It was a bit crowded, but nothing unbearable by any means. Brooklyn loved seeing all the different animals. (She was more intrigued with everything than I thought she would be at this early age.) She really liked the bright colored fish in the aquarium, too. We even got to hear one of the lions roar....pretty cool! A wonderful family day together.

Birthday Girl
Brooklyn had a wonderful birthday party on Saturday. Friends and family joined to celebrate, eat and laugh. The Birthday Girl got tons of fun toys and cute clothes!! She is a lucky girl to have so many people who love her very much.
She had a giraffe cake that Momma and Dadda made for her and an elephant cake for everyone to eat that her Nana de Wolfe made....so cute!

Happy Birthday Brooklyn
Our little Brooklyn Grace is a year old today! She is growing and turning into the most beautiful, sweet and quirky little girl :) She is the apple of her dadda's eye and I tell know lie, her world does not turn until he is there with her.
She now weighs 18lb, 15oz (20th percentile) and is 30.25 inches long (85th percentile). She looks great and is developing wonderfully. She loves to read her books and dance to music. She imitates sounds and uses sign language for "milk," "more" and "all done." She is working on some others. She waves, claps and is a crawling machine! She cruises around and stands up without any help. She is becoming a serious chatter box, but is still very shy around others. She gives kisses and high fives. She eats every vegetable except green beans, every fruit and all kinds of meat. Her hair is getting very long; long enough to put into pig-tails. And she loves her days with Nana de Wolfe.
Happy 1st Birthday!
