Valentine's 2019

Valentine's this year was extra busy! A very good busy though!
100th Day of School came just before Valentine's. Cayleigh decided to be a 100 year old lady and she looked super cute with her glasses! And Brooklyn was a runner doing her 100th run.

We squeezed in a girls night with chocolate tastings at Central Market with Gamma and Nana!!

I did a big launch with my home business, Sweet E's, for valentine brookie (brownie bottom, cookie top) cakes and treat jars. They were a huge hit! I was completely floored by the wonderful response I got and all the orders. My dear friend and neighbor took amazing photos (like she always does of my cookies) for me to market the jars! I ended up selling 14 brookie cakes and 52 treat jars. It was quite the baking and assembling scene for two days straight!

Prior to Valentine's, I entered Aaron and I's "how we met" love story to our local Chick-Fil-A to win a free Valentine's Day lunch and we actually were one of 3 couples to win. It was so cool! So, Valentine's Day, we had free lunch at Aaron's work.

"One I Love"

Afterwards, the littles and I headed to Brooklyn and Cayleigh's school to volunteer in their classroom Valentine parties!

For our family dinner at the house, we had ravioli and heart-shaped present rolls! It was a fantastic Valentine's Day!!

And instead of flowers or candy, we gave the girls their own night out (the following evening) at Clothe and Glaze where they ate pizza, made hard print cards, painted Love canvases and played with slime. They loved it!

 I treated my other love dude to Chinese dinner with just the two of us! He was such a sweet date!

Cayleigh's New Look

I had my suspicions for a little while, but once Cayleigh showed 40/20 in each eye after her well visit, we decided it was time to make an appointment with an optometrist. Sure enough, the exam revealed she is nearsighted. I had been working on softening the blow of possible glasses to Cay in the days leading up to her appointment. She would get upset each time I talked about it. But, once it was all over and she was able to pick out her frames, she wasn't emotional at all and became very excited. She immediately picked up a pair and knew they were the ones she wanted. And she instantly looked even more adorable than she already is!

After about two weeks, her new glasses had come in and Morgan, Zachary and I went and ate lunch with her for her first day sporting her new look. When she came into the lunchroom and sat down, she said, "Mommy, I knew you would come and eat lunch with me today." I asked, "How did you know, I didn't tell you beforehand I would come?" And she said, "I just knew you'd come and check on me." My mommy heart nearly melted right out of my chest in that moment. I praise God for this job called Motherhood and all that it entails.

We took a bunch of crazy selfies and laughed a ton!

Zach's First Dental Visit

Zachary had hit first visit to the dentist and he did really good. He was pretty reluctant at first (which I was no used to because none of the girls were even remotely nervous) but our sweet pediatric dentist warmed him up quickly. He loved wearing the sunglasses until he was actually in the chair, then wanted no part of laying down and putting them on. Dr. Roberts was able to show him how each tool worked and he sat and let her clean his teeth. It was great! No tears and no trauma!

He did have lots of "mommas" helping him follow directions.

HA! The dentist thought it was hilarious when she looked over and saw all of us helping Zach say "ahhh."

Events In January

Winter meant the start of basketball for Cayleigh. It was her very first season to try it. She did great and got better and better the whole season. It was a lot of fun watching her work so hard to improve and also score some baskets.

Brooklyn was in running club at her school during the fall and each student was working towards running the cumulative distance of a marathon. Each Wednesday, they ran after school and they could also participate in actual runs in order to earn their marathon medal. So, after the holidays, they awarded medals to those who completed a full marathon. I pray my kids always want to stay active in things that help keep them healthy.

Took Zachary and Morgan to Cloth and Glaze for a fun painting outing. It was Zach's first time and we all had a fun time together.

Zach also graduated from his crib into a big boy bed! I'm not sure who was happier, him or Daddy and I to get rid of the crib that we had had for over 10 years!! This milestone felt more significant this go-around since the crib wasn't just being passed down to a new baby. He slept like a champ the first night and never looked back.

Donuts with Dad at the school was on the calendar too. I adore Aaron's relationship with his girls. He is so patient, kind and just the right amount of goofy. And I love that he values his time with them.

They are crazy though!
